TAYTAY: Senate Minority Floor
Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. has called for close scrutiny of a
consumer advocacy group, which allegedly has been using government
funds to promote its efforts against some private firms.
Pimentel said it is illegal for
the government to fund the National Association of Electricity
Consumers for Reforms Inc. (Nasecore) headed by Pete Ilagan.
“If it’s true that the
government is funding Nasecore, there is a clear violation of law as
government funds are not supposed to be used for private
purposes,” he said at a press briefing in San Juan City.
